When you write a book, you spend day after day scanning and identifying the trees. When you’re done, you have to step back and look at the forest.
– Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
I am passionate about helping fellow writers take their work to the next level. Years ago, after working on my first book for almost 8 years without daring to show it to an industry professional, I took the plunge and sent it off for an editorial critique. It was the best thing I could have done. On the back of an insightful and encouraging report I was able to improve my work to the point that I got my agent and my first publishing deal.
What I offer
I provide a thorough manuscript appraisal looking at both the technical side of your novel or short story – plot, character development, dialogue and pace – as well as more subtle aspects of effective story-telling such as impact, originality and how to make a reader engage emotionally.
For a full manuscript appraisal including follow-up discussion:
(up to 70,000 words, £5 per additional 1000 words) | £350 |
Synopsis and first three chapters | £100 |
Short story critique (up to 5000 words) | £75 |
How to submit
Send your query to me via the contact form below. Once I receive it we will chat either over email or by phone – whichever you prefer.
